After a traumatic incident during his residence, the young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) is transferred to a rural hospital for a new start. Observing that James has trouble and has difficulty connecting with patients, Dr. Harrison (stadium veteran and actor of the Michael Potts screen) suggests that he was taking a course focused on bedside and facilitates relationships deeper with patients. The demons of James’ past begin to catch him when consumed by the case of a young asthma patient (Sidney Flanigan, never rarely always) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to slip while his disturbing nightmares, his speculation fueled by anxiety and his physical injuries collided with the harsh realities of the world of medicine. The director Alex Thompson assembles a large set of actors of veteran characters in his suite of Saint Frances – and precursor of Ghostlight – in this vision of humanist and unconventional gender.
